Don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of the negative image we (Dominicans) have on SPANISH! News. They only portray us as drug dealers, loud, ignorant, gang members, and racist on top of everything. If news from DR is portrayed they show images of catastrophes, poor barrios, Haitiano deportation, confiscated drugs and guns, and dirty places. They forget that we are the only Latin economy that grew and provided more security to investments. Santo Domingo is going to be home to the next IKEA! That also, we have one of the best tourism industries in the Caribbean. If we are so racist, why does tourism keep growing? I dont think people of all races will come to this little half island becuase of the that. We are so much more than Juan Luis Guerra. We are the beginning of the new world. The first university, hospital, convent, and enterprise where all started here. Somos gente buena, contenta, y hospitalaria.
If they give news for any other country, the images are so different. Toy quilla!

You go girl, speak your mind... I didn't know all those things about the Dominican Republic, you said a huge mouthful in that one little paragraph. I'm hoping that one day I can go visit...I now HOT97 (a radio station in the NYC area) is doing a trip to Punta Cana, DR. If I was still single, without my kid, and not about to give birth the following month, I would have jumped on it!
